In Melbourne today it's rainy and kind of cold, although I've yet to put on socks or a jumper, or even to close the windows and doors.

Because that would be like giving in.

It's also getting dark already, on account of the end of daylight savings, and I am getting firmer in my resolve to lobby for changes to how we do this. I believe that instead of daylight savings time and standard time, throughout the year we should make smaller, regular adjustments to the clock in order to ensure that sunset always occurs at about 9PM.

I love the idea of adjusting clocks so that sunset is always around 9pm. The change in daylight savings is messing me up, as it often does. I got into a good habit in the last month of taking the dogs to the park around 6pm, which meant there was enough time for a decent meander/socialisation before it got dark and I could still have dinner before 7:30pm. Now it's already getting dark at 6pm, so I'm going to have to go earlier if I want to do it before it gets dark. However I also like the social aspect of catching up with the regulars and most of them work until 5pm, so they will still be coming around 6pm. I know, first world problems...

Make it 10pm and you'd have my support! :o)

Agreed! 10 PM would be my choice as well. I love long daylight hours.

I'd rather make the adjustment so that sunrise is always around 6 am. I like my long daylight hours to be in the morning rather than the evening.

What a wonderful idea. I think people working might complain about it being dark until midday though. Although the power companies would like it eh?
