Part Two.

Today's carer is the one that collects those weird resurrection babies. Or new life dolls or whatever they're called. Those creepy hyper-real babies that cost extra if they have lifelike genitalia.

She cheerfully announced "new baby" when she came in, so I groaned out loud and said they're weird and scary.

Then she said "no! My daughter's had her babeeeee!"

And I said "whoops" inwardly. Outwardly I said sorry, and probably yay or something. But then she added that a she'd taken delivery of a new resurrection baby yesterday as well.

I demanded photos, because that's the polite thing to do, and she showed me her phone - and started with the bloody resurrection doll.

Just for the record, the new grandchild is a lot cuter.

One of the people over the fence is strumming on a ukelele.

I have made hummous for the first time, but I haven't quite got it right and I think I could do with a better food processor as it was impossible to get it really creamy. I also made the chilli egg dish again. Haven't eaten either yet because of the usual problem of food preparation putting me off eating for a while.

Those Reborn dolls really are creepy (I went and googled until I found what you meant). And then I went and looked on Wikipedia, and I'm really rather disturbed by the idea of people making dolls to represent their children who have since grown up. The psychology of that is worrying, to say the least.

Much as I would have loved to be able to have kids that's just, um, strange..........

It seems unhealthy to me to pretend that an inanimate object should be treated like a human being. I'm guessing most of the people who act out with these dolls have other problems that require grief therapy, or other forms of therapy.

The problem with your hummus may not be the blender. To get really smooth hummus, you need to peel the chickpeas - a bit of a pain, but totally worth the effort. I had the same trouble before (and I have an excellent blender) but after reading about it on Smitten Kitchen I tried it and now it's perfect every time.

I hope her grandchild has suitably lifelike genitalia.
