Grrr...arrgh.

Oh blast. Another afternoon/early evening nap has been had. The sunlight is starting to disappear.

It might have been justified this time, given what happened earlier, but it's still very annoying.

Not to mention insane.

It starts out with a feeling like I am going to have a three year old's tantrum (thus saving a three year old from the bother, which is nice of me). Right down to the tears. And I can't think. I feel a visceral need to just curl up and feel safe and warm. And then it happens.

This would be fine if it would just happen at 11PM. But it doesn't happen at 11PM. It doesn't even happen at 1AM, 2AM or 3AM. All that happens at night is that my legs twitch, my mind races, and I toss and turn until I finally concede I need chemical help.

And while we're talking about chemical help: there's no way I'd have a caffeinated drink right now. It *would* keep me up until dawn. I have to avoid caffeine after 3PM in fact, because of it's effect on my sleep. But do you think that caffeine earlier in the day might prevent these unwanted afternoon sleeps?

It would seem logical that they would, wouldn't it?

Yes, yes it would.

But no. I could drink a litre of coffee and still fall asleep, against my will, in the afternoon/early evening.

*grump*

Anyhoo. I know there are worse problems to have, and I know I'll just need to make an extra big effort the next couple of days to break the cycle, so that's what I'll do. Sheer force of will.

It really would seem logical but I have found that caffeine is a very fickle stimulant.
