Some time ago, someone here recommended a TV series, Dead Like Me.

It lasted for only two seasons.

Every so often you stumble across something that's so good, you just don't want it to end.

But alas, it seems we have three episodes to go and then it's over.

It's a series about a small work crew of people who just happen to be undead. They are grim reapers, and they are required to disconnect peoples' souls from their bodies just before they die, and take their souls off to the spot where they can move on to the next...whatever. Our narrator/heroine is one of these people, a young woman named Georgie who 'wakes up' from her death to find she's a reaper.

Reapers have to live on the fringes under assumed names. They look different to anyone who has ever met them, and although they are dead they have amazing capacity to heal from wounds. However, they do need to eat, sleep and what-have-you, so they still need day jobs and must juggle the demands of daily life with their real work as reapers.

Elements of the story and aspects of the world of the show have been turning up in my dreams.

Seriously, it's invaded my subconscious!

Part comedy, part fantasy. Bleak and hilarious at the same time. I'm tempted to call it 'quirky', but I hate that word. It builds quietly. There are a couple of story arcs which aren't central, it's the actual characters that flesh out and grow on you over time.

It really just needs to be seen to be understood.

Every couple of epidodes Dolores says or does something that has me looking round the room for a spycam or wondering if it isn't time to completely wipe my blog because she seems too eerily like a hybrid of myself and one or two others with a couple of details changed to protect the innocent and make it legally possible for the usual disclaimer 'similarity to persons living or dead is totally coincidental' to be on the end credits. Except I'm not ( spoilers )oh no not at all, and didn't ( spoilers ) or at any other time for that matter.

But for crying out loud, the woman worries incessantly about ( spoilers ),lives her life( spoilers ), and the next time we see her after that particular episode, the ( spoilers ).

And let's not even start on her turning up dressed ( spoilers ). And granted, we don't have that here, but you have to confess it's as close as you can get without being exactly the same.

I'm just waiting for her to announce ( spoiler ) and then I'm launching legal action.

But in the meanwhile, I'm fiercely clinging on to difference, like the reality that I'm ( spoilers ) Oh and I *know* I have ( spoilers ) over other people. I think those are important points of difference too.

So it's okay, she's not about me.

But she might be about me and you.
