Liveblogging The Olympics.

Dressage is weird, but I love the commentator because she is rather horsey sounding and may even be British. The dressage arena is so very tidy, with large flower bouquets around it. I wonder if they grade those as well? It does all seem to be about a very strict adherence to appearance and rules and getting small movements juuuust right, with the help of a riding crop. Not kinky at all, that.

*sigh* Happy now! Men's cycling.
I'm happy. My favourite commentator in the whole world, Phil Liggett, is doing the honours. This man has been a cycling fanboy for decades and I suspect he likes a dribble of sherry for breakfast.

But white cycling knicks with red on the chamois? (that large amount of padding in between the legs?) Really....? Do the designers never actually road test their designs? Do they never actually check what a cyclist looks like, from behind, as they pedal away? They really should.

And as for patriotism, inspired by 17catherines and her interest in the smaller nations represented in the Olympic Games, I have decided that my allegiances in 2012 are with Bhutan and Lichtenstein. Should they come up against each other I will go for Bhutan for the ladies, and Lichtenstein for the gents. At some point one has to be arbitary.

Although I'm not sure we'll see much of them. Already it's all about the Aussie swimmers. Fine, but could they please encourage them not to goggle and wave at the camera...?

Oh look, it's that sexy young dentist again.

Rowing.No. Can't seem to care about the Aussie entry Is she from Lichtenstein? No I don't think so. Does she have a dragon on her national flag? I think not. These are both major point against her. Sorry. I can see cyclists in the background, but they're not the interesting ones, just the rowing coaches.

Want the cycling back.

I may actually watch a movie or something. I don't think there's going to be a lot of liveblogging this time round...

I'm supporting Puerto Rica, partly cos they trained at my work, but also because they're small and obscure.

I may have to become a night owl so I can watch all the events. Got up at six (thanks Shiraz) so I'm watching the swimming now but what I really want to see is the rowing, gymnastics and equestrians.
