Today I have

-mislaid a crochet hook;

-boogied (badly) to the Scissor Sisters;

-realised that yesterday I threw out a full tub of cream cheese, and put the empty one back in the fridge.

Technically, that's quite enough. I may go for gold and do something useful like put away all the laundry that's piled on the bed, or wash some cups or something. Or not. I did some of these things yesterday, more than usual and quite surprising given I also felt quite zonked, so maybe I'll just rest on my glorious laurels. (And then I went to friends for tea! OMG).

....laurels...rest on, yes...

Also, I'm reading From Russia With Love by Ian Fleming (yep - James Bond).

Damn this reading ability is an amazing thing. To be able to just pick something up for a while, to wander into that alternative place, real or imagined, and stay there! It's amazing.

I mean, I'm not saying it solves all one's problems, I don't want to do it all the time, and I wouldn't be able to even if I did, and if I did I'm not sure I would want to be too focussed on the Flemingverse because dude, it's fucked up...as is any world that isn't the secret one in my own head in which I rule the universe...but it's certainly a Very Good Thing.

Anyhoo. It's my first Fleming and I am loving the sheer good vs. evil melodrama of it and the cat and the fish are heartily enjoying the Russian accent I've adopted until it's done.

Humour aside, I do see potential for some much more thoughtful analysis about what the author is doing. I was thinking about it last night when I couldn't sleep, but I'm afraid I never seem to have moments of clarity when I'm here, so you'll just have to take my word for it.
