December.

I make an effort to avoid appointments in December. It started after a couple of bad experiences with trying to catch taxis at this time of year, it's now a very important break from the grind.

With thanks to shehasathree for this link: Disability Free December - the second!

It seems I'm not the only one.

I have one more appointment before Christmas. It is next week, at a hospital, so my fear of no-taxi! is somewhat allayed. They have a taxi phone, the company gives priority to hospitals and known medical centres, the hospital doesn't close, and has seating. So at worst, I'll be sitting for a while.

Unfortunately, my suddenly sore foot means I may have to do some other stuff next week - an x-ray and blood tests, but I may be able to work them into Tuesday's visit. Or, given my attitude, they may just be put to one side until the new year.

The other advantage of avoiding medical labour in December is that transport is really easy in January, so anything put off until then is, in fact, easier and less stressful than normal.

So I do recommend it. It might not completely work out - emergencies come up - but clearing the non-emergencies has worked out really well for me.
