It's a shouty shouty world we live in.

Homecare today, also gardening. Both ace people. But now it's just me and the cat.

I'm now ready to book myself in with a tax agent. This is awesome, it means February's main goal has almost been achieved. I've still got some work to do, but it's probably doable today - the pile of papers are sitting in front of me, roughly in order, and now I just have to list them and do some sums. There are a couple of pieces of paper that still need to wend their way hither and yon, but they can get added in later.

My next big goal, over and above the usual pile of things that will make me a better/happier/more worthwhile person, is the Coursera course, which has just started but I haven't even looked at yet.

It's so long since I've even attempted any structured, focussed learning. (Unless you count a brief binge on Duolingo a few weeks back, which I don't. Because if I did I'd then have to consider that I lasted only a couple of days before I got distracted by whatever else it is that I get distracted by.)

Getting your taxes in order is major! Congratulations! We can't do ours until May 1...fiscal year starts then in Spain. They have a weird calendar.

Um actually, our financial year goes from July-June. People are supposed to get it done by the end of October.

*looks sheepish*

And I might be two years behind.

*wonders if I should get a sheep icon*

I really wish Duolingo didn't encourage the binge format. Same thing happened to me. I can't do something Every Single Day without the first time I miss being the day after the last time I ever bother. Twice a week, maybe, sure, but daily? I can't even eat breakfast daily without getting sick of having to do it yet again.

I got almost to that stage with tax, ages ago. I've done nothing on it since. One full day and I could send it on and I keep finding more important things to do...

I'm very confused about the financial year here, because it varies depending on the context. I think in the Federal government it runs from October to September, but for tax purposes it runs from January to December with tax returns due by 15th April. What's really weird is that it seems nobody submits their tax return until 15th April but they're terrified of being late, so post offices will even stay open until midnight that day so that people can get the magical 15th April postmark on the tax return envelope. We Australians seem to be much more laid back about getting our tax returns done.
