Medical Update.

1. Sleep cycle still thoroughly b0rked. ATM, it's not RLS, just delayed sleep/insomnia. I think I'm now on Cape Town hours.

Worst bit: I'm getting cranky about it. While I'm lying in bed. This doesn't help, but how easy is it, when you're waiting for a delayed train, to stop staring at the track and pacing?

2. Crohn's: nothing much to report. Back down to 6mgs.

3. Mental state: see item 1.

4. Pain levels are up again.

I need to start keeping a symptom diary again. Just for a while (doing these things day in day out, forever, is a bit much to contemplate. And I'm not sure it's helpful). I keep losing track of various things I really *should* be keeping track of, given I'm hoping for medical help for them.

And I'm writing this down here in the hopes that this semi-public acknowledgement of what I need to do will help make me do it.

I can't actually take melatonin: Chron's Disease (and other autoimmune diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis) don't cope well with the way it increases immune system activity. (Something to bear in mind should you meet people who are trying it, as this is not well known and far too many people think it's safe because it's an over-the-counter medication.

Mind you, when I did try it, it only 'sort of' helped (and sort of didn't - I started waking up at very odd times, equally annoying to my usual odd times).

But to that end, I'm glad you gave me that link - I've just lashed out and ordered a pair. The guarantee helped my decision - I'll know quickly enough whether they'll be useful.

The psoriasis - yes, very probably.

Mind you, my Crohn's flared quite quickly after I started on melatonin. I didn't realise there could be a link, so I kept taking it for some weeks. Possibly a couple of months.

So you'd need to consider whether your psoriasis symptoms worsened when the melatonin started.
