We just walked around the block. I am so unfit. Hard for tenbears too, but only because he's not used to shambling. He seemed to have trouble knowing where to put his feet because his legs weren't moving far enough.

It kills me that going round the block is such a challenge for me. And that I'm secretly hoping that maybe someday soon I'll be able to do such a walk a couple of times a week with no payback. (Actually, what really kills me is that I assume that being well enough to do that would mean I'd have to get a job, pronto, and I don't feel quite ready...when really, being well enough to walk round the block three times a week hardly equates to being well enough to go to work. Logically speaking, I'm sure I've got a little bit more time before I need to buy an interview outfit. Like maybe, forever.)


And I've done another Scary Thing, go me. This was made easier when the process of getting it done became so damned fiddly that I wasn't so much anxious about the whole metathinginess of the activity as bored and pissed off and just wanting the fucking thing finished, FFS.

So now it's done.


Got an email today to tell me that I am not fructose or lactose intolerant, hurrah! Pardon me while I jump into a bath full of CAKE AND WHIPPED CREAM. (Cake containing wheat flour, you see, and wheat apparently being a problem in the fructose thing, believe it or not. Besides, jumping into a bath full of fruit and whipped cream just wouldn't have the same appeal, would it? Cake is much nicer, fruit is dull and unsexy).


But for those of you who wish I was dead right now (that'll be the folk currently munching on rice cakes and saying they're quite nice once you get used to them to anyone who'll listen), you'll be pleased to know that my cholesterol is still too high and I have to go on medication for it. My attempts to lower it through diet alone (ie-easing up on the cheese and fatty foods - in particular DUCK) only resulted in the levels of good cholesterol going down and the bad cholesterol going up slightly.

I take this as a sign that I should go back to what I was doing with the cheese and fatty foods - in particular DUCK. So if anyone wants me over the next week or so, look for me anywhere that does a nice yum cha.

Today I walked a measured 1km. It took me 25 minutes and was bloody hard work, leaving me sweating like a pig. I have to keep reminding myself that a month ago I walked happily for about 2 hours with no problems at all, because this breathing thing (or rather lack thereof) is really getting me down.

I vote for a three-course meal of duck with wheat noodles, cheese, followed by cake and whipped cream. MMM.

We swapped our margarine for some sort of margarine with good fats in it, and started taking flaxseed supplements; this improved my other half's cholesterol balance somewhat. Plus flaxseed is full of the stuff we make brains out of. I figure I need more of that. (Omega-3s. I figured I'd remember eventually, but gave up and looked it up so it wouldn't bug me all day.)

while I am envious of those test results....I still think it easier to live with my fructmal than your Chrohns.(i haven't spelled that correctly, have I?) Although I may have to poke my tongue out at you every so often.

Ya for block shamble. Its so nice just seeing what your neighbors are doing, isn't it?

My all time fav meal is chilli crab. Don't know if you know it.It's not very hot to taste at all. Crab comes covered in a red sauce.
Eating with fingers is an absolute must and you know you're doing a good job if you very shortly can't tell the difference between the sauce covered roti, (which you want to eat) and your sauce covered napkin (which you don't).

I was once really drunk when I ate it and have no memory of the occasion, which is immensely disappointing. Also surprising - that I could forget an extended foodie finger messy meal.

I haven't had a yum cha in years. I shall have to do some inviegling. But not for another 7 months or so, come to think of it. No Soy (leaky gut) for that long. I think my soy resumption celebration should be yum-cha. Ltl_Pengy should be able to resume a few food then as well (her IGg banned foods as opposed to her Fructose and Lactose banned foods) so maybe she'd like to join in.

Hooray for keeping the yum foods! Although I am sure duck is cracking on a peanut butter and avocado topped rice cake. ;)

rather unfortunate that we all think this way, isn't it? but yeah, i can relate.

apropos of not much, every time the post said DUCK i winced, thinking that somehow the computer would magically throw tomatoes or something at me.

duck! cover! something is going to fall from the sky!

but no, you were talking of delicious birds. i'm not always so good at the parsing of sentences right away.
