Sunday.

I'm pulling myself together for a Sunday. Sundays are never neutral, they are either good or bad. Today's going to be a good one.

On a good Sunday I don't feel bad about not doing things, and can actually sit on the couch in the living room and knit and listen to the radio with a feeling of moral impunity. Because it's Sunday of course!

Anything else I do on top of this is proof that I'm a saint, so sometimes I'll flick the tumble dryer on as I head past on my way to the loo.

~~~
Back when I was in the workforce, it was my CLEANALLTHETHINGS!11 day and usually ended with a much needed sedative. Or a night of no sleep at all and a crappy day at work. Sundays were horrible.
I do still get Sundays that echo those days. And usually at least a few moments where I get a bit overwhelmed by previewing the week ahead, but I figure I need to preview the next several days every several days anyway, so I'm sticking with Sunday for that task.
Heh, my favourite Sunday activity is listening to 3RRR starting with Radio Therapy(Medical stuff), then Einstein A-Go-Go(Science stuff, with my BF Dr Krystal as one of the hosts), then I tune out a little bit during Eat It(Cooking/Food), except for the market report because the host's voice is a bit irritating, then tune back in from 1-2pm for Dirty Deeds(Gardening). While doing this I usually alternate sitting on the lounge knitting and ironing. I actually get a bit miffed if I'm not able to spend my Sundays in this fashion.
I also used to have Sundays as the CleanAllTheThings! day when I was working. Never really liked them. They were just a reminder that the weekend was over and I hadn't done nearly as many things as I wanted to or actually managed to rest. Glad I'm over those days now.
how funny. I read your whole post thinking it was from someone else's journal, then actually read the user name. Initially 'cause the icon is a similar style to mmyme's but the subject matter didn't break the spell either.
I love "Anything else I do on top of this is proof that I'm a saint".
Hubby and I have very differnet approaches to weekends.
For me, Friday night I come home, things get put down on the first available flat space and I collapse into a heap on the couch or into bed if we've been out. Saturdays are for groceries, going out to see and do, or staying home to see and do. Sundays, eventually, involve CLEANALLTHINGS and PREPAREFORTHEWEEK.
Hubby prefers to CLEANALLTHINGS on Friday night or, at the latest, before Sat dinner time. Then he can have the rest of the weekend off.
This is one of our COUPLEISSUES that has plagued us for a decade and, Divine Entity Willing, will plague us for decades to come.
I hope you had a Good or even Saintly Sunday.
