Seeking Help From The Cloud.

The contents of my (realname) email inbox, always accessed via Thunderbird, have completely disappeared.

An email that arrived as I was noticing this had also disappeared when I logged back in.

No more have disappeared though. It seems to be business as usual.

My settings do not allow for automatic deletion.

Things in other mail folders are still there. Another mail account that goes through Thunderbird is still okay.

I've checked via webmail - there are only about 45 emails in the inbox there, which accounts for about two-three days.

Can anyone enlighten me on this and tell me where I can find my email?!

There is a really good source of help about this if you go to the Thunderbird forums at, from memory, mozilla.org.

I don't use Thunderbird anymore, but I had something similar happen on I was able to follow the instructions and find the folder on the computer that had all the messages.

Need more information:

The big one is: POP or IMAP access?

Thunderbird has been known to get its index all confused... in which case the mails are there in the file, but it can't find them. Try right-clicking on the folder in question, click "Properties", then "Repair Folder".

If that doesn't work, there might be something else afoot... but try that first.

Thanks. Just tried, but didn't work I'm afraid.

It's POP access.

POP means it was downloaded to your computer, and there probably isn't a copy left on the server. Unless you're using GMail.

You could always go into your Thunderbird profile and have a look at the file corresponding to the troublesome folder, see if there's anything in it.

No idea unfortunately, but you can get MozBackup, which will back up both your Firefox bookmarks/settings/ad-ons and your Thunderbird mails.

Bit - after the horse has left the stable in this case tho.
